UCLA
Situated in the heart of West Los Angeles, Science Olympiad at UCLA unites a diverse group of Science Olympiad veterans and newcomers alike under the banner of public service. Since its inception in 2015, the organization has continuously supported the Los Angeles Regional Tournaments and Southern California State Tournament. Today, 1 in 4 event supervisors at these events are undergraduate and graduate students from UCLA.
Beyond volunteering at tournaments, the group also coordinates the Summer Build Workshops, which were piloted in the summer of 2023. SoCal Event Supervisors and volunteers organize sessions to teach beginners the principles of engineering and to help optimize the devices from more experienced competitors from across California. Science Olympiad at UCLA looks forward to creating an analogous chemistry workshop in Fall 2023.
Science Olympiad at UCLA will be undertaking a new project in the 2023-24 academic year, the Urban Schools Initiative (USI), sponsored by the Aerospace Corporation. Designed to launch Title I middle schools into the realm of STEM and Science Olympiad, this tournament is the club's largest project to date. Club members will engage in every aspect of organizing the tournament, including coordinating general logistics, designing learning modules, and creating competition materials.
Make your impact today with Science Olympiad at UCLA by emailing scioly@ucla.edu. We are always looking for passionate event supervisors, tournament organizers, and club administrators who are eager to learn and grow!
