The UCSB alumni chapter runs the Santa Barbara Regionals Science Olympiad Tournament on the UCSB campus, which typically takes place in March each year. To host the Regional Tournament, the UCSB alumni chapter is responsible for developing the tournament schedule, securing rooms and labs for the tournament, in addition to working with our event supervisors and test writers for the tournament. Besides the local Santa Barbara Regional Tournament, the UCSB alumni chapter also supports the annual Los Angeles Regional Tournament as well as the Southern California State Tournament.

The UCSB alumni chapter was founded in the 2018-2019 academic year, hosting its first Santa Barbara Regional Tournament with just 3 high school teams. Since then, the number of schools have increased and the tournament has expanded to include a middle school competition as well. We are working with the Santa Barbara and Ventura County Offices of Education to increase school participation in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. For the 2023-2024 academic year, we are also working to expand the competition to include an elementary component.
